Parkhotel Adler

Breakfast was truly superb, especially the made-to-order omelettes. The wine selection was good too. Dinner uses high-quality ingredients and focuses on local dishes, which I enjoyed. I had veal liver; the flavours and ingredients were nice, but it was a little overcooked. Calf liver should be slightly pink and tender. My wife's medium-rare steak, which cost an extra €30, was medium at best. They list their producers, many of whom are organic, and use local suppliers. We had the all-in package, which I think is all they offer. It includes a simple but good-quality buffet lunch, high tea with lovely homemade pastries, and dinner. Drinks at dinner aren't included. With all the food and drink included apart from those dinner drinks, €560 a night for two feels like good value for the quality, though it isn't cheap. This is a pleasant five-star luxury hotel in the Hoch Schwartzwald (Black Forest), in southeastern Germany. It's been family-owned since 1446 (see picture)! The village is lovely, surrounded by woods and plenty of hiking trails. Nice Titisee (Lake Titi) and the ski village Feldberg are also not far away. The atmosphere is relaxed, and the staff were welcoming and courteous, from reception to the restaurant. Our junior suite was spacious and pleasant, with firm, comfortable beds and a free minibar. The bathroom was nice and had good towels, but the bathtub with shower was cramped at the end of the room, with a small shower head. They could have used more of the suite's space for a large walk-in shower. The sauna and wellness area is beautiful and high quality.

The Christmas decorations gave Parkhotel Adler a cozy, magical feel and made our stay special. The place is extremely comfortable, with beautiful decor and exceptional taste. Everything felt thoughtful and refined. We'd absolutely love to return.

The staff were excellent, helpful and attentive, every single person we dealt with. My wife enjoyed her massage at the wellness centre so much that she extended it. It was one of the best she's ever had. The hotel itself is interesting and clearly well cared for, with rooms finished to a high standard and very well appointed. We worried that inclusive dining might mean a limited menu, but there was a wide choice and an excellent menu. Afternoon tea was another lovely extra. It was a wonderful stay, and I couldn't recommend the place more highly. Don't hesitate to book.

Breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner all came with the package. The food was delicious and varied, and the staff were professional and courteous. The grounds are very large and immaculately maintained, with peaceful surroundings and plenty of walks nearby. We booked a room with a separate sitting area and a large bedroom. Both were beautifully furnished, very clean and comfortable. The hotel feels luxurious in every way.
