Hotel Gerber

The place is simple and welcoming, and I had a clean room with a comfortable bed. There was an unpleasant cigarette smell coming through the ventilation, even though smoking isn’t allowed in the hotel.

We stopped for one night on our drive through Germany. Check-in and checkout were really easy, and it’s only a quick detour off the main road. The room was spacious and clean, with the feel of a traditional German hotel, and the service was nice. We had a room facing the train tracks, but didn’t hear a thing at night, despite having read comments about train noise. Breakfast had a wide choice: homemade jams and baked goods, cold cuts, cheeses, fruit, a yogurt bar, juices and more. We brought two dogs, one medium and one small. Pets cost 9.5 EUR per pet per night, and there was enough room for both crates and space to walk around.

The best part of our stop was the breakfast. There was plenty to choose from, and since we arrived late, the woman there even asked if we’d like fresh scrambled eggs because the earlier batch had run out. We only stayed one night while travelling from the Netherlands to the Czech Republic for a friend’s wedding. The hotel is close to the highway but very quiet, and they gave us earplugs for the night. There’s parking at the hotel, and our 1 am check-in was no problem. The area has castles, parks and other sights too, so there’s plenty around for a longer visit. We’d lost an engagement ring on the trip and had almost given up on finding it. I contacted the hotel as a last hope, and the housekeepers had found it. The manager sent it back to us in the Netherlands. I’m so grateful. Thank you, and I hope the hotel has many happy guests!

Everything was good, and breakfast was included. The food was really tasty.
