My room was quiet and easily the most thoughtfully equipped hotel room I've come across. There was lots of storage, a writing surface, plenty of light, enough power points in sensible places, a comfortable bed, and a bathroom laid out well. The staff were helpful and very friendly, and I really enjoyed the restaurant food during my three-day stay at Hotel Viktorosa. The location was ideal too: an easy walk to the railway station, historic town centre, large park, Bad am Park (pool complex), and nearby supermarkets.

Breakfast was an easy, no-fuss buffet, and you can walk into the centre of Hofgeismar without trouble. The hotel restaurant is nice as well. I had a comfortable room with a cool backdrop picture that made it feel less like a bland, standard hotel, and the shower was really good.

At first, the hotel and room looked great: clean, modern, and well laid out, even nicer than a Hilton room. But my room had a terrible problem at night. Every 15 minutes, the adjacent kitchen installation switched on, sending vibrations and a loud, irritating noise through the room. I couldn't sleep. The receptionist's only response the next morning was, "OK, I will talk to the chef of the restaurant." That was all. Not every room has this issue, but mine did.

The hotel is nice, newly renovated, and the building itself deserves a solid five stars. The staff were friendly whenever we managed to find them. Service was lacking overall, though, and breakfast was below average. It was impossible to get hold of staff, and because the hotel is so small, nobody is on duty at night. For a hotel of this standard, I expected better service, so I can only give it three stars.

I stayed for two nights. The hotel was very clean, and my room was spacious and nicely decorated. The food at the local restaurant was very good too. I'd stay here again.
