Schloss Hohenbocka

I went in not knowing what to expect, but the staff were so eager to make everything nice. The rooms look great, the beds are delightful, and there are lots of little details to notice. Breakfast was hard to beat, with locally harvested produce, fresh eggs, yogurt, cheeses, ham, and breads. I especially couldn't get enough of the yogurt! The enchanting location and atmosphere made this the most relaxing vacation stay I've ever had. The whole place is very nicely done.

The thoughtful details stood out, even in the breakfast area's bathroom, which had a small child ring. We only stayed one night, but it was a real delight and a lovely surprise. The room was charming and beautifully trimmed, and breakfast on the patio came with friendly smiles. I'd love to come back.

The room had a terrific shower, and breakfast was perfect. I also liked having a kettle and mugs, though it seemed odd there was no tea or coffee. The fridge was very loud, but at least I could switch it off. It's a beautiful little chateau and I had a fantastic room. The catch is that there's no food or drink in the evenings, and nothing within walking distance.

The room itself was okay, and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was good too, especially the freshly baked croissant. But service was very poor during my one-night stay. The bathroom heating was broken and made it like a sauna, while the shower drain didn't work properly, leaving water up to my heels. There was no phone or other way to call for help from the room. We arrived at 3 and asked for a coffee, just coffee, but were told the coffee shop was closed. They also bluntly said there was no chance of getting a good dinner there :) and advised us to go to the next city. I hope service improves, because the place has a lot of potential.
