B&B Hotel Bonn-West

I really enjoyed my stay. The hotel was super clean and well organized, and the staff were friendly and accommodating.

I was in Bonn for a business meeting and stayed at the B&B Bonn-West with a colleague. The room and other facilities were clean, and breakfast had a good variety. My room had a slight deodorant-spray smell, though it wasn’t too bothersome. Two things stood out. At breakfast, most of the meats and cheeses had no labels explaining what they were. It’s important to identify the meat, since some people can’t eat pork for different reasons. The other problem was how reception treated my colleague on both days. Staff were rude when he asked what an unpaid extra charge was for, and refused to explain it. The next day they wouldn’t give him an invoice and didn’t say why. Replies like “that’s not my problem” aren’t polite, especially when someone is asking about a surcharge. I regularly stay at hotels for conferences and business meetings and haven’t seen staff act this way before.

The staff are friendly and the hotel is good, but the shower is really small. Breakfast was very poor, with hardly any choice. The hard-boiled eggs were so hard I couldn’t tell whether they were from yesterday or three weeks ago. That feels like a health hazard.

The rooms were quiet enough despite being near the train tracks, and the AC worked great. Online check-in was efficient too. But the doors, both room doors and the connecting hallway doors, bang shut so loudly that you can hear them in the rooms. There was also a bad bathroom smell. Rooms are basic, with no kettle, which I wouldn’t expect at this kind of hotel anyway. The quality felt a little below Ibis Budget. If Ryanair had a hotel chain, this would be it. I’d only book again if I had no other choice.
