Apartment Henke

The village is a great base for hiking, climbing, and visiting nearby attractions. The holiday home was clean, and the owners were very friendly. Highly recommend it.

The owner made a really nice impression, and we’d happily stay here again. The apartment had what we needed and was centrally located, so the sights and hiking trails were easy to reach. For the price, we weren’t expecting anything luxurious, and we felt very comfortable.

After a day of hiking, coming back to a quiet apartment and relaxing by the crackling fireplace is lovely. This was our fourth stay with the Henke family, though our first in their new apartment. It’s modern, tastefully furnished, and has everything we needed. Our hosts are friendly and helpful, and there’s a bread delivery service. Fresh eggs are available too, when the chickens cooperate. We’ll definitely be back.

The bedroom can be darkened easily, and I really liked having a bathroom window for ventilation. We had no trouble with the Wi-Fi, and the heating worked well. On evenings when we lit the fireplace, the apartment warmed up quickly. We didn’t use the terrace because it was too cold, though it would be a nice place to sit and barbecue in warmer weather. We stayed with the Henke family in Lohsdorf for 10 days in October. As a couple in our early 30s who hiked every day, we found the small apartment perfectly adequate. We could park on the street and pull up right by the door to load and unload. Our hike starting points were all within a 30-minute drive. The landlord was incredibly friendly and even came to pick us up when we had car trouble. The bread roll delivery was handy, with fresh, delicious rolls that always arrived on time. After rainy hikes, relaxing by the fireplace in the evening was especially nice. We only used the kitchen for breakfast since we usually ate out in the evenings, so we can’t say much about the full kitchen setup. It had what we needed, including a coffee maker, kettle, egg cooker, toaster, and various pots and pans. It’s a cute little place that works well for a couple. It could be too small for a child. For more space, there’s also a holiday apartment for up to 5 people with a minimum stay of 5 nights, which isn’t listed on the website, or a holiday home for up to 5 people. We’ve hiked in other holiday areas too, including Bad Schandau, which had lots of tourists and felt overpriced, and Schmilka, where there was no or hardly any cell phone reception. We’ll return to Lohsdorf and the Henke family when we hike in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains again. There are still a few places we didn’t manage to visit.
