TM Hotel Dortmund Airport

The room was tidy and clean, though some of the furniture is a little old. It’s a straightforward place for a short stay if all you need is somewhere to sleep around a flight. The airport is the main advantage, about a 20-minute walk away. Simple and practical.

The room was quiet and had a TV and wi-fi. You can find the password in the hall, where there’s also a phone number for a taxi to the airport, which costs around 10€. Coffee is by reception, and the airport is nearby. There’s no elevator, which was a big minus for me with a heavy suitcase. It felt more like a hostel, with no room service.

The room had poorly insulated walls, so I could hear people talking loudly in the corridor from 6am. The shower and décor looked like they were from the 80s, and someone had used a spoon and rubber band to keep the shower fitting against the wall. At check-in, an intercom explained something in German even though we were speaking English. The door opened, but nobody came to check us in. We eventually found a key attached to the key panel, with a mistake in the name, so we weren’t sure it was meant for us. Check-out was the same, with nobody at reception, no bell, and no contact number. There was zero service. No breakfast or anything else. Rarely seen such a low-end hotel. I wouldn’t recommend it, despite the very attractive price.

This felt more like a hostel with private rooms than a hotel. I wasn’t expecting a shared bathroom for each floor, and it wasn’t pleasant. Despite the no-smoking signs, the place still smelled of smoke and BO. You could hear everyone else on the floor too.
