Waldidyll Rabenhorst

It's in a very quiet spot, surrounded by forest, and some of the rooms have been renovated. The room interior is fine, but the walls don't block noise from neighboring rooms. Maybe it would be better thought of as a three-star hotel.

We've been visiting this restaurant for special occasions for six years, but the food quality, and especially the service, keeps getting worse. Lunch took two hours even though we had only one drink and one dish, with no appetizer or dessert. Something felt wrong. The same servers we'd had five months earlier seemed just as confused, with no learning curve. They didn't check whether we were happy with the food or clear away the empty plates. Very poor service.

For 120 a night, this was worse than a hostel room. It was tiny, with no ventilation or air conditioning, and the bathroom was cramped. The shower had almost no water pressure. The bed was so hard I had back pain the next day. Internet didn't work, and there was no TV. Being in the woods meant my phone had no reception either, so I couldn't get online at all. There was no fridge or drink in the room, and when we called, they said there was no service because it was Sunday. The chair and lamp weren't clean, either. For what they charge, this is by far the worst hotel I've stayed in. It feels more like a scam. I'm attaching photos.

The staff make you feel welcome every time. It's a great place, and I always stop here when I travel by car to France. I also love running through the surrounding woods and hills, past the Roman ruins nearby. I'll be back again and again.
