App.5 Seeblick

The sea view makes this our favorite holiday apartment on Sylt. We’ve stayed twice, and both times everything was fine and the place was furnished very nicely. There are a few cosmetic flaws and things that could use renovation, though.

We spend a lot of time looking out at the North Sea from the window, and the beach is just under 100 to 150 meters away, so we walk there every day. The penthouse has everything we need, and we’re completely happy with it. The price is right, too. The landlord and office staff are very nice. If we come back, we’ll definitely book the Seeblick house again.

The view from the window, bench, or beach chair is fantastic, and the apartment is great for photos. The bus stop is within walking distance, and there’s parking if you arrive by car. If you’re exploring the island on foot and need 20 minutes every day to buy a bread roll, think about whether that suits you. Apartment 4 is a nice two-room place with a shower, hairdryer, sofa bed, and armchair. There were plenty of towels. We raised the paint smell and were accused of just wanting a refund. They gave us an air purifier, but it made our headaches worse. When we switched it off and went to the management office ourselves, they were friendly and waived the tourist tax. We own dogs, but there was long dog hair from the previous occupants all over the apartment, even in drawers. Cleaning also seemed rushed: there was dust, especially along the bathroom grout, and rusty cutlery that should have been removed. We didn’t mention the poor final cleaning at the time. You pay for towels and bed linens, then an expensive final cleaning fee, and still find dog hair. We pay a lot for a week, and in other apartments there’s no final cleaning charge and certainly not this kind of dog hair problem. This really needs rethinking. They did find time to complain on departure day that the cleaning staff had used pans left by the previous tenant. On Tuesday they promised us a new microwave, but it came several days later and was left on our doorstep. Were we supposed to install it? The old one sparked when switched on, so that really wasn’t okay. When we first raised the microwave issue at the management office, they took our cell phone number and called to arrange the replacement while we were at the vacation rental. Isn’t that what service should be? They should put more effort into better service instead of always charging so much for the vacation rental.

Our apartment was clean and well-maintained, and our dog was welcome. It had two bedrooms, a small hallway, a shower and bathtub in the bathroom, a spacious living and dining room with a kitchenette, and a fenced terrace. The apartments have fantastic views facing both west and east. I highly recommend them.
