Gleuel Inn Apartments

Gleuel Inn cancelled my booking on the day I was due to arrive, without giving a reason. I was really disappointed. The sudden notice left me scrambling for somewhere else to stay, which was stressful and inconvenient, and I rely on clear, timely information when travelling. When I contacted customer service to ask what had happened, they weren’t helpful. They gave no valid explanation and offered no assistance or compensation for the trouble. That’s far below what I’d expect from a reputable hotel. Given this experience, I can’t recommend Gleuel Inn. Travellers should know there may be last-minute cancellations without proper communication or support. Reliable accommodation matters.

Our booking was confirmed well in advance. About 4 weeks later, I got an email about a so-called credit card problem. They said the card couldn’t be used or charged, though there was nothing wrong with the card or the details I’d provided. The booking was even showing on my credit card bill, ready to be cashed on arrival. The telephone customer service was useless and said they couldn’t do anything. They gave us 24 hours to resolve the issue, even though our visit was still 7 weeks away. The next day, they cancelled the booking. It seemed obvious to us that they didn’t like the good deal we’d secured by booking early. By then, all the rooms were booked at a premium because of the gaming convention in town, which was exactly why we’d booked so far in advance. We couldn’t find anything else, and they left us hanging. BE CAREFUL!!!! You could be disappointed if you book this hotel.

The apartment for 4 persons was cosy and neat, with well-equipped kitchenware for cooking and dining. The bathrooms were clean too. But the beds weren’t clean. There was dust and tiny hair on the bed-sheets, pillows and comforters, and I had to use masking tape to get it off. Bedroom cleanliness matters most to us, and this service apartment didn’t meet our standard. The basement washers were tricky to operate, and the washing powder container was empty, which is inconvenient for customers who need to do laundry. The Wi-Fi also had weak spots. The signal was strong only by the main entrance and weak in the kitchen and rooms.

We rented three rooms for eight people. When we arrived, a kitchen cupboard door had come off its hinges, but we didn’t contact the owners and we hadn’t caused any damage. Later, I got aggressive private messages demanding €45 and threatening legal action. They kept messaging, at one point claiming to be booking.com, and used their own phone number as booking.com customer service contact. I checked the number against the one on their website, and it matched. After reading the reviews more carefully, I saw others had reported the same thing. The rooms and prices seemed nice, but the follow-up was not. I think €45 to put the screws back is unreasonable. I’d choose somewhere else that treats people honestly.
