The rooms are roomy and clean, with good bathrooms and reliable free WiFi. They’re a little dim and there aren’t many outlets, though. The staff are wonderful, even if communicating can be a bit difficult. The facilities date from the 16th century and 1866, but they’re well kept and have a warm, classic feel.

The rooms were tidy and very clean, and there’s plenty of off-street parking. We also liked the pool and sauna, and breakfast was good. The staff were friendly, but they didn’t speak English. There were several issues with the spa: the whirlpool wasn’t working, and the steam bath was still poor after staff tried to fix it in the morning. Massages were fully booked, and we were told to reserve ahead. Since we visited off-peak, it would help if the website mentioned that. We found stains on the robe we were given. Reception replaced it, but didn’t apologize. The WiFi in our room didn’t work either. We ate the three-course dinner both nights. The first was decent for the price, though the meat was dry and the food needed more flavor. There were only two main courses to choose from. The second meal was a little better, but we had to ask for salt and pepper since none was on the table. I’d rate the food at most 3 out of 5.

The spa was really great. We stayed in the old gymnasium, which is a nice hotel, and the beds were okay. The breakfast buffet was limited, and some people weren’t following social distancing or using disinfectant.

For a business trip, I stayed a few days and found the facilities far beyond what I’d expect at this price. It’s easily my favorite hotel in husum.

There are lots of free parking spaces at the hotel, though Google had trouble guiding me to the lot. Inside, it feels like being in a castle.
