We arrived around 10pm after booking late, at 6pm, and a slow journey meant we wouldn't reach the hotel sooner. Mattis had let us know reception would be unattended, but arranged for us to collect our key and leave our motorbikes in a locked barn/workshop behind the hotel, sheltered from the weather. He also coordinated with the chef to get us food after closing time. The meal was fit for kings, and the friendly serving staff made us feel completely at home. My brother and I were blown away by the hospitality at Mutter Bahr (Toddenland). The Lux room felt like a plush apartment, with tea and coffee facilities and a bathroom big enough for a party. The hotel sits in a peaceful, almost surreal countryside setting, with wildlife all around. We'll make this a stop on future adventures and will definitely return. I'd recommend a visit. Thanks to Mattis and the whole team at Mutter Bahr.

My room was in the historic main building, directly above the restaurant. There's another hotel building across from it, and the property is in the outskirts of Ibbenbüren. The room was very clean, but its dark oak furniture felt old-fashioned. The bigger problem was the weak WiFi, which made it impossible to work efficiently. There was no mobile network available in the area either, and even the phone connection was poor. For that reason, I don't think it's a good choice for a business trip. The hotel itself has a nice, rustic feel and is in a historic building.

Breakfast was better than average, and the restaurant dishes were good, though they seemed rather pricey for the location. The rooms were very clean. Their old-fashioned style is tasteful and consistent throughout.

We had a lovely wedding here. The rooms were simple but perfectly decent, and breakfast was well worth the price. Reception was especially helpful and spoke great English.
