Das Karl (ehem. IBB Hotel Ingelheim)

Breakfast was a highlight, with tasty options like scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, pancakes, fresh rolls and croissants, plus plenty of jams, meat and vegetables. The hotel is in a great spot near the train station and a few restaurants. Rooms were clean, cozy and spacious. Check-in could use another person at reception, though. I saw guests waiting 10-15 minutes.

There was nowhere on the premises to get food after we arrived, since everything, including grocery stores, was closed on Sunday. After 24 hours of travel, we didn’t want to have to go back out for food and drinks. Our street-facing room was very noisy, especially with the window cracked open, which we couldn’t do at night while sleeping. The location and breakfast were good, but there was no fridge or microwave. The hair dryer kept overheating and took ages to dry my hair.

The location was excellent, and the parking garage was well built, though it cost extra. The rest didn’t feel worth the price. Despite being new, the hotel seemed dated, almost like an upscale retirement home. The TV was crooked and the glasses were dirty. On the fourth floor, the central ventilation made a lot of noise, which was disruptive if you sleep with the window open. We only had one sachet of instant coffee, and the kettle was calcified. I’ll look for other options in Frankfurt next time.

The staff were really friendly and helpful, and everything worked as it should. The rooms were nice and clean. Breakfast was extensive and good quality, and there’s a nice restaurant on the fourth floor. After hours, reception even gave me a non-alcoholic beer, which I could drink in the fourth-floor reception area.
