Der Heidehof

The breakfast was decent, but the shower was awful. I was on the fifth floor and couldn’t get the water to hold a steady temperature. For a spa hotel, that was disappointing, and it was barely usable. My room also felt old, with several fixtures that weren’t properly fixed. I left at 1 pm, and I’m pretty sure the room wasn’t cleaned after I left for the next guest. It had officially been canceled, which caused some trouble with my job, though that’s another matter. I wasn’t welcomed particularly well, though it wasn’t horrible either. I was wearing work clothes, which may not have helped, but in my opinion it shouldn’t matter. There was no French-speaking staff member. When I asked for an invoice, the “I know better than you” tone didn’t help my impression of the service. I didn’t try the spa or restaurant, so can’t comment on those. It’s not a bad hotel, just not as good as I expected for the price. It might deserve another star if it were cheaper, but that shower was really bad. If you speak German and look rich enough, you’ll probably get better service too.

The room was comfortable and well appointed, and I was greeted warmly by staff who were happy to help. Breakfast had plenty of variety, and the food was better than I expected. Having parking on site also made my daily commute easy. For a business class room, I was surprised there was no water or coffee maker. An iron would have helped too, but when I asked at reception, I was told it would cost €15 per day to use one. That felt like an unnecessary extra expense, especially for business travelers who need pressed clothes.

After our first business trip stay, we never considered another hotel. I’ve really enjoyed coming here, and once the receptionist even gave me a cake for my birthday!

The spa area with its two pools is great, and I’d strongly recommend the hotel for that. Breakfast was average. The “class first business” room seems to vary depending on which part of the building you’re in. Mine was very small and old, with no air conditioning. There was an extra door connecting to the suite next door, and I could hear people as if they were in my room. The handle also worked, which was creepy. My friend paid the same and got a completely different room in those respects, and he was satisfied.
