Ferienhaus Mertinat

We had a lovely break on the island of Poel. The house was pleasant, the mattresses were good, and it was very quiet. Once we looked more closely, though, there were dirty windows with cobwebs, dusty furniture, and plenty of spiders. The coffee machine was broken but got replaced; the extractor hood didn’t work, and there were no cushions for the outdoor seats. The small upstairs bathroom had no towel racks. The TV antenna cable kept coming loose, and the Wi-Fi was very poor. We also had to fix the fence because our dachshund immediately found a hole. With the small garden unmown, it was hard to spot the dog droppings.

We had a very nice holiday in the apartment “for six,” which was furnished well and pleasantly. The owners dealt with minor problems right away when we mentioned them. The outdoor area lacks cushions, and small gaps in the grounds make it easy for dogs to get out. The cleaning service arranged by the owners wasn’t very thorough.

ForTen worked perfectly for our group of 13, and we were warmly welcomed. The mattresses were comfortable, and the kitchen had plenty to use: two filter coffee makers with a bean grinder, a fully automatic coffee machine, and a kettle. Firewood isn’t provided, but the well-stocked Rewe is only a 5-minute drive away. The photos show how lovely the house and its surroundings are, with morning, midday, and evening sun coming into the rooms. We visited in January. The large living room was pleasantly warm, while the upstairs rooms were rather cool, but that was fine with us.

We were 12 adults and all left very happy. The whole house was spotless, and the kitchen had plenty of pots, pans, cutlery, and sharp knives. Outside there’s loads of room, two grills, a dining table with 12 chairs, several other seating areas, four beach chairs, plenty of loungers, and a big bicycle shed. Three handcarts are provided too. The house is beautiful and spacious, with stylish decor and bedrooms that have ample room and storage; some have TVs. There are also several beds for children. All four bathrooms are quite new and have showers, and one includes a freestanding bath. The furniture is in good condition, without noticeable wear. Picking up the keys was easy, and the contact people were friendly and helpful. Highly recommend it, and we’d love to return!
