Gockescher Hahn

We won't be going back. Around 8:30 on Saturday evening, after a hike, we stopped in hoping to have a drink. There was still light in the dining room and people at the bar, but the door was locked. As we were leaving, two apparently drunk men and a member of staff opened it and let the dog loose toward us. Once the dog was finally called back, I asked if they were still open and got a sharp, unfriendly “NO!” in reply. It felt like they simply didn't want guests that Saturday night.

The rooms were clean and spacious enough, and ours had a balcony. We could have used the garden and pool, but chose to go to the reservoir instead. Mr. Friedemann was very friendly, and at breakfast they asked what we wanted, which was lovely. The rolls were fresh only on the first day, though. Not a big deal, we managed. We had a great long weekend.

Our children got many of the things they wished for thanks to the host, and we're completely satisfied with our stay. We were welcomed very warmly, despite a bit of a hiccup: I hadn't received the final email because of my own mistake. Our youngest was louder than he should have been early one morning and got a small reprimand, which was fair enough. He was quieter after that. Thanks for the lovely days and for everything.

We've stayed here twice now and would happily come again. The rooms are comfortable and clean, and breakfast was generous and nicely laid out. Bringing our dog was no problem. We'd definitely recommend it.
