Ferienhof tom Diek

The bathroom was lovely and modern, and much nicer now with a great big shower. The photos of it on the website are out of date. We were welcomed so warmly, and the courtyard-facing apartment had everything we needed. The location worked perfectly for walks, bike rides, and ferry trips into Hamburg. The beds were clean and well kept, and the mattresses were just right for us, neither soft nor sagging. We’d definitely stay again if we holiday in the Altes Land.

We made good use of the space for storing our e-bikes, and were able to charge our electric car on site. The house is furnished throughout with antiques and a lot of care. It’s quiet, with a lovely mature garden and seating, and you can walk along the Estedeich dike behind the house. The welcome was friendly, we felt very comfortable at the holiday farm, and we’d come back anytime.

We stayed in the upstairs blacksmith’s apartment, which sleeps six and looks over the main farmhouse. It felt airy and nicely balanced between modern and rustic. Tom Diek is a beautifully renovated farmhouse in the Altes Land, with a large garden and direct access to the Estedeich dike. The setting is peaceful and rural, while Jork, Buxtehude, and Cranz are conveniently close. Cranz has a ferry landing for Blankenese and Hamburg. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay and would gladly return.

Everything has been renovated with care and good taste, and the garden is lovely. The landlords were competent and accommodating. The house is right by the cycle path and dike, and makes a great base for trips to Buxtehude, Stade, and Hamburg.
