Inselresidenz Strandburg - Ferienwohnung 204 (Ref. 50964)

Very disappointing. On February 6, the morning we were due to arrive, we found out at 8:30 a.m. that bad weather had left just one ferry running that day, at 11:30. We’d planned our roughly 4.5-hour trip around an afternoon ferry, so there was no way we could catch it. The ferry company said the services would also have to stop the following day because of ice. We contacted our host to cancel, but they categorically refused a refund, even a partial one, or any other amicable arrangement. We run three holiday apartments ourselves in the Eifel region, where snow can make access difficult for some winter guests, and we generally try to find a fair solution in those situations. We would have appreciated the same here.

We’ve stayed at several hotels on Juist and booked this one on fairly short notice, so we were pleasantly surprised. The apartment was a good size, though it’s really only a kitchenette and we didn’t cook there. Some furniture felt a little dated, but the place was clean and the bathroom looked brand new. The pool and sauna area also seemed recently renovated. Communication before arrival and when we got there was excellent. The Pirate's Nest is closed. We’d definitely come back.

The staff were friendly and polite, and we’ve saved the address for another holiday. Our apartment was stylish and well equipped, with a smaller room that was clean and pleasant to look at. There was a fairly noisy air conditioner opposite the beach club, though the sea was louder ;) We didn’t get around to using the pool or sauna because we were out so much.

We felt at home in Apartment 310 and didn’t find ourselves missing anything. It had a big double bed, a sofa bed, and what we needed to make breakfast or a light meal. We came for a long weekend with our four-year-old daughter. The walk from the ferry took about eight minutes, and at the beach castle we were greeted warmly and shown to the apartment. It’s not a luxury residence, but we felt well taken care of. The elevator goes straight to the small pool and sauna, which was a nice extra. We had a wonderful trip and will be back.
