The fenced garden gave our furry friend room to run around, and the wonderful winter weather made the stay even better. Kammerforst’s people were friendly, and the host was so genuine and personable that being there felt like an experience in itself. We’d also recommend the lovingly restored old farmhouse: it’s equipped with everything you could want. The photo album was fascinating and full of useful information, and seeing the restoration and renovation work left us amazed and impressed. Hainich National Park is another big draw. Thanks so much for everything.

We spent our days hiking through the beautiful beech forest and would happily come back. Our dog loved the stay too. There were fresh rolls available a few houses away in the morning, and the apartment had tasty jams and apple juice waiting for us. The landscape is breathtaking, the apartment is decorated with great taste, and the host is very friendly. We had a wonderful time.

If forests are your thing, the Hainich Beech Forest is hard to resist. The Hainich Holiday Farm in the quiet old village of Kammerforst makes a good base for exploring it. I’ve stayed twice in the smaller downstairs apartment and been very happy there. It has a double bed in the bedroom and a pull-out sofa in the living room. Everything is in place, with care taken over even the little details. Dirk Pohl is friendly, helpful, and easy to deal with. There were fresh flowers when I arrived, and the apartment is fully and very well furnished. The half-timbered house has a charming courtyard, also full of thoughtful touches, plus a large, tidy but rustic garden with fruit and flowers that guests can use. If anything’s missing or needs fixing, Mr. Pohl responds quickly and helps out. It’s usually wonderfully quiet here. A lovely place for a holiday, to recharge, and to learn, all at fair, reasonable prices. The farm deserves seven stars. Thanks for everything. I’d love to return soon for the ancient forest, the surroundings, the people, and the Hainich Holiday Farm!

Kammerforst only has a bakery for shopping, so plan on driving about 15 minutes to a Rewe or Edeka supermarket. We really enjoyed our stay, especially the treetop walk, which is well worth a visit. The apartment was a pleasure to come back to, with thoughtful decor and a great mix of modern touches and half-timbered architecture. It had everything we needed, and the friendly landlord was happy to share tips for trips out. A wonderful holiday apartment in Hainich National Park.
