Motel One Karlsruhe

The breakfast was disappointing. It was very busy, seating options were poor, and the price felt far too high for the selection. The hotel itself is modern and decent, in a fairly central location. There’s a good vibe in the reception and public areas, and my room was on the small side but clean and nice enough.

I reserved six rooms for very important clients and received a confirmation email, but when they arrived, the hotel had given the rooms away and turned them away. That’s completely unacceptable. When I asked for the manager’s contact details, I was told that wasn’t possible. That struck me as absurd and unprofessional, with a shocking lack of accountability and competence. I’ve never had service this disgraceful, especially for business travel. It reflects terribly on anyone who relies on this place for professional trips and is deeply embarrassing. I strongly advise companies and business travelers to stay far away.

The rooms are small but okay. Breakfast has a limited selection and no hot dishes, though the coffee is decent.

That water bottle at check-in was a real help when we arrived in Germany on a Sunday and everything was closed. We stayed five nights for work, and the central location made it easy to walk around without worrying about parking. The lobby was lively in the evenings and drinks were reasonably priced. We skipped breakfast, but there’s a bakery nearby. The underground garage has limited spaces, so it can be full if you arrive late. The staff gave us a map of other public garages, and one night we ended up using number 2 on it. A really nice stay.
