City Hotel Kassel

The hallways were a maze, and there was a weird smell. There was mold near the shower, and the room, furniture, and bathroom all felt stuck in the eighties. It was very hot, and the fan was about the cheapest I've ever seen. There was even an old ironing board fixed to the wall. At check-in, the lady was very unfriendly and kept going on about no smoking even though you don't smoke. Treat yourself to somewhere nicer.

The rooms were good, neat, and tidy, and the staff were friendly and helpful. There’s no air conditioning, and there wasn’t an electric kettle in the room, but there is a bar downstairs, plus an automated snack bar and a smoking room. The main train station is about a 20-minute walk away. There are two restaurants a couple of minutes away on foot, and a tram stop not far off. Tedi, NKD, and tegut supermarket are about a 7-minute and 10-minute walk away, respectively.

The hotel is about 200 meters from the tram stop for lines 1 and 3, and the center is just one stop away, or around 1.2 km on foot. For a 3*** hotel, it offers a very good mix of price, quality, and comfort. The rooms are big enough and very clean, with an all-in bathroom, TV, small fridge, comfortable bed, and very good Wi-Fi. There's also a fitness room and a pretty good breakfast. Definitely a good option when you're in Kassel.

The staff were very nice, breakfast was great, and prices were decent. Everything was as it should be. There’s no air conditioning, though, but AC isn't common in Germany.
