Apartmenthaus Wesertor

The neighborhood didn't look too great, and the Wi-Fi details we were given didn't work. Still, the apartment was clean and comfortable, with a really good shower and comfy beds and bedding. The apartments were easy to find, there was plenty of street parking, and the staff were friendly, helpful, and accommodating. We'll definitely book again.

The first night was really good, and the apartment building itself is clean with friendly staff. But the second night in apartment 001 was a different story. There's a connecting door that seems to lead to a private apartment, and loud conversations in a language I couldn't understand carried on until nearly midnight. There was furniture being moved and a lot of rumbling, along with a woman repeatedly shouting "HEY!" I wondered if it might be Tourette's. The earplugs left on the bed didn't help, and I was worried I might not hear my morning alarm. Since 8 p.m. an unidentifiable food smell was also coming through the connecting door. At first I thought it was my leftover frozen pizza, but it was so awful near the keyhole that I put an earplug there to block some of it. It seeped through every crack, though closing the doors to the apartment hallway made it somewhat bearable. The first day had seemed promising, so it's a shame the stay couldn't have been nicer.

For just one night while passing through, this place is fine. A longer holiday here would be completely unsuitable. The room was clean, and a helpful young man was there to answer questions. I liked the combination locks, since I could remember the numbers and didn't need physical keys. The rooms are sparsely furnished and extremely noisy. In the kitchen for two people there was one small table and one water glass. There were two little hotplates, no oven, and a small combination microwave whose controls remained mostly a mystery to us. Luckily, the Turkish restaurant Lehmofen is an easy walk away and has good food at reasonable prices, so we didn't have to cook with the limited facilities. The bathroom had good lighting and a spacious shower that kept its temperature, but the shower hadn't been descaled recently. There was practically no storage space by the sink and mirror for an electric razor, toothbrushes, perfume, deodorant, or anything else two people might want close at hand.
