B&B Hotel Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe

The room was clean, but with temperatures outside down to -12°C it was freezing inside. We complained several times, yet the heating still didn’t work. Guests couldn’t adjust it themselves; only reception could. A staff member said they’d already had several similar complaints and nothing had been done. The cold was so bad that condensation built up on both sides of the windows and water dripped from the sill. We couldn’t cancel after checking in. The next morning, staff just said, “There’s nothing I can do.” Meanwhile, reception was quite warm, while the rooms had no working heat. After repeated requests and speaking with the manager, we got a 50% refund as a goodwill gesture. With a child along, this was completely unacceptable for us. Never again.

The one thing going for the hotel is its location, since you can get away quickly. Otherwise, while it’s still being built, there’s loud construction from 7:45 a.m. until evening, dirt everywhere, and scaffolding right outside the window. The room smelled sharply of fresh paint and couldn’t be aired out because the window wouldn’t open. There was no hot water either, so I had to take a cold shower because the water supply wasn’t working properly yet. Maybe things will improve in a few months. Even as a new hotel, the design is very bare and the amenities are basic, so it’s not comfortable. I was shocked by how far below Motel One, Premier Inn, or Hamton Inn it felt. The duvet and pillows were cheap plastic, and heating only came from hot air through the air conditioner. I won’t stay at a B&B again. A bad experience.

The room was clean and nice, and check-in was friendly and quick. It’s easy to get to the city centre by S-Bahn. I’d be happy to come back in summer or autumn.

Quick check-in, very friendly staff, and a clean hotel. I’m very satisfied, especially for the price.
