Ootel.com - Hotel & Hostel

We had a great weekend in Berlin at Ootel Tel. The staff were so friendly, and our clean, modern room felt cozy. Lots of attractions were close enough to walk to, which made the location really convenient. My friends and I would happily come back.

I felt unsafe there all night. A worker suddenly opened my door in the evening, and the stairwell smelled strongly of weed. It was freezing in my room because the heaters weren’t on. Reception said the whole building had a heating problem, but that didn’t seem true: the reception room was warm, and the pipes in the stairwell were hot. I was also given the wrong room at first and had to go back for another one. The building is about eight floors high with no elevator. The ATM didn’t work, and the wheelchair ramp was nearly useless, set at what looked like a 60-degree angle.

The room was simple, but clean, and the staff were friendly whenever I needed help. The common areas were decent, and the atmosphere felt calm. It’s a practical, good-value option for a short stay or a budget trip, rather than a luxury hotel. Having the train station nearby made getting around Berlin easy. I had a pleasant stay and would consider coming back.

For €46 for two people for one night, the value was great. Check-in and checkout were both quick, and I saw no dirt or bedbugs in the room. There are two grocery stores about two minutes away, plus a pretty good kebab place in the same building. It’s well outside central Berlin, though a tram stop nearby gets you there in about 30 minutes without changing. I’d recommend it on a small budget, but probably for no more than two days. The elevator seemed a bit suspicious, haha, though maybe I was just unlucky. Overall, a very good stay for the price.
