We loved the restaurant too: the food was really tasty, and mains cost 15-25 euros, so it wasn't too expensive. The hotel sits right in the forest, which made it wonderfully quiet and a great base for hiking and biking. The gardens by the Hercules statue are beautiful. Staff were warm and helpful, and during the pandemic, when there were only a few guests, they arranged a private breakfast for us on the roof terrace instead of serving the buffet. You do need your own transport since it's too far to walk into town, though the drive is only about 15-20 minutes. There's a bus stop 1.5 km away.

The three-course Christmas dinner was delicious and fairly priced, and the staff were so friendly and attentive. We were a family of four adults and a child, and everyone enjoyed the pleasant atmosphere in the front dining area, including the decor and noise level. The weather was lovely, so we walked about 30 minutes from the Herkules parking lot to the beautifully situated Elfbuchen Restaurant, which also has a hotel. We were welcomed warmly and soon had our first drinks at a nicely placed table. A thoroughly enjoyable Christmas dinner for 2025. We'll be back.

At Christmas, there are decorated trees along the path with panels about Grimm's fairy tales. The walk from the Herkules parking lot is easy, though it was a very cold weekday when we went. The 11 Buchen restaurant doesn't open until 5 p.m.

The restaurant was fantastic, with beautifully presented dishes and a chef who really knows what they're doing. The staff were friendly and attentive, and gave me great help choosing both the menu and a wine to go with it. The hotel is tucked into the forest, about 2 km from the nearest main road, so it's a good spot for hikers. The water features are also within walking distance.

The terrace is lovely, and after a nice walk through Habichtswald forest, you reach the Elfbuchen restaurant and observation tower on the mountain. The service was friendly and attentive, and the cakes were delicious.
