We found it easy to explore both Strasbourg and the Black Forest from here, and there was plenty of parking. The charging option was available too, though it was expensive. Breakfast was a real highlight, with lots of choice and good quality, and everyone we dealt with was consistently friendly and professional. We stayed three nights and found the hotel comfortable and well kept. The one drawback was the loud heating unit, which could bother light sleepers.

For the price, the hotel is acceptable, though some things suffer. The heating unit makes a loud noise at 1:40 every night and again at 7:40 in the morning. We had to use AirPods for two nights to block it out. There was daily cleaning, but the floors and some spots around the window and ceiling were still dirty. The staff were friendly initially, but didn’t do much to help, honestly. Some staff could also use better English, as it was hard to understand them.

Breakfast was generous, varied, and delicious, and the hotel felt luxurious for the price. Free parking and shops nearby made the location convenient, with Strasbourg about 30 minutes away. I stayed at the Calamus Hotel in Kehl during the last week of December and enjoyed it overall. The room was spacious, clean, and well suited to a couple, and the bathroom was spotless and comfortable. I did think a 4-star room could use a coffee machine or refrigerator. There was some nighttime noise that light sleepers may want to consider. The hotel has a pool, spa, and activities for kids and adults, though some services, including the spa, cost extra. Despite a few small issues, I enjoyed the stay and would recommend the Calamus Hotel for its comfort, amenities, and breakfast.

The breakfast was a real treat, with cheeses, cold cuts, pastries, eggs, bacon, and excellent quinoa salads. We also tried the Italian restaurant and enjoyed it. We spent four nights in December and liked the modern, welcoming design throughout the hotel. Our room was spacious and clean, and the junior suite came with a coffee machine and free minibar. The hotel is handy for the Black Forest, and we got to Strasbourg with a short tram ride from the town of Khel.

The atmosphere was calm and quiet, and the hotel looked almost brand new. Our room was spacious and cleaner than rooms we’ve had in 5-star hotels. Breakfast was great, served in a huge hall, and the staff were really welcoming. Receptionist Mr Mao was especially friendly. There’s a racing track underneath the hotel, which was super fun for kids and adults. A lovely place in Kehl, we’d definitely come back.
