DORMERO Hotel Kelheim

Kelheim is a very pleasant small town, and the hotel is well placed for exploring it. Parking was excellent, and our room was spacious and clean, with a good shower, separate toilet, and even a little fridge. There are soccer tables by reception, though we couldn't find any balls to play with. I'd rate the place 4.5 stars if there were a kettle in the room, which would have been very welcome.

The breakfast had a great selection, and there was a lovely spot to sit outside. Our room, 118, faced the street at this very central hotel, though, and the outside noise kept us awake. By 1am we still couldn't sleep, so we called reception and had to move rooms.

Finding reception took a little care: coming along the road parallel to the Danube, stop at the clock tower with the arch and turn left before going through it. The desk is that way, and the bus stop is about a three-minute walk from there. Tourist information is around five minutes away on foot. The room itself was pleasant, with a downtown Kelheim view, separate toilet and shower, nice flooring, and a rainfall shower head. The fridge with drinks was great, the bedding was good, and the courtyard has a fountain. The breakfast area is by the elevator near the front of the building. The overall vibe reminded me of a Hot Topic store in the US. A male housekeeper kindly helped me get our stroller up the steps. I do wish the front desk had put us in a room that didn't require using those steps, or one reached by a hallway with a ramp, for better accessibility.

For a small town, it's one of the bigger hotels. The rooms are nice, breakfast is good, and the service was excellent. The drawback in summer was the heat: it was 32 degrees Celsius, which is unusual, and there was no air conditioning.
