Hotel Peterhof

The location made getting around easy, with a main shopping street nearby that you can reach on foot, along with supermarkets, shops, restaurants, and a gym offering daily guest passes. We appreciated having a garage parking space, and breakfast was a favorite: lots of healthy choices, including muesli and oats with nuts, seeds and fruit, fresh vegetables, eggs, a milk foamer, freshly squeezed orange juice, and alternative milks. Our apartment at "Hotel Peterhof" was spotless, cozy, well equipped, and had a comfortable bed. The night shift receptionist on 30.12.2024 was especially kind. Without us asking, he carried many of our bags from reception to the apartment around the corner, about a one-minute walk away. His English was very good, and he helped with anything we needed on arrival. Just be aware there’s no elevator in the building, which could be difficult with lots of luggage, large suitcases, or a disability. We think the kind reception team would be happy to help. We truly enjoyed our stay.

The buffet breakfast in the ground-floor restaurant had options to choose from, though I wish there had been more variety, especially for vegetarians. The hotel is in central Kempten, with a nicely decorated reception, then a bar, restaurant, and garden. My room was small but clean, and it had a minibar with complimentary items. There’s no AC, which didn’t bother me in December, but could be uncomfortable in summer. The bathroom was extremely small, and poor drainage near the toilet meant water could spill onto the room floor. There’s a basin in the room for brushing your teeth or shaving. The large windows let in fresh, cold air, but sometimes noise too. Housekeeping was meant to clean every two days, yet my room still hadn’t been cleaned after two days. When I raised it that evening, I was told housekeeping staff were absent; after a lot of asking, I got the basic items for the room and bathroom, which was disappointing. Reception closes at 10:30 pm, after which guests have to use the garden door to enter or leave. I left my keys at reception and returned at 10:45 pm, then had serious trouble getting into my room. Nobody was there to hand over my keys, and I hadn’t received any information or call. I only got them after calling the emergency number, so be very careful with your keys here. The reception staff also weren’t comfortable speaking English, which made it hard to communicate my requests as an international traveler.

We were very happy with the service and rooms. We first stayed here before heading to Italy, liked it so much that we returned on the way home. It’s dog friendly, and our corgi Mac was treated very well too.

The location was great, and I had a pleasant stay. Staff were friendly and gave great service. I was surprised by the free evening meal, and the breakfast was great as well. They also allowed me to check in early, around 12, once the room was ready. Getting chocolate left outside my door for Saint Nicolaus was such a thoughtful touch. I’d recommend the hotel.
