smartMotel Kempten

The rooms were clean, and everyone on staff was really kind. Getting in was easy too, with no keys, gates, or locks to deal with. We parked and walked straight to reception, and the parking was included in the price. A really nice place to pause on a road trip. We'd come back if we're passing through the area again.

I got in around midnight, paid by card at the 24 h Pay Station, and was able to get to my room quickly and rest. The room looked clean, but when I checked more closely I noticed some problems that couldn't be dealt with at that hour. The next day, once management learned I hadn't been able to sleep in the room, they refunded the full booking cost and apologized sincerely. It was all handled quickly over the phone and by email, without me needing to repeat myself or return to the hotel. Everyone I spoke to also spoke very good English. That kind of professionalism really moved me, and I felt grateful to find good people in a difficult situation. Safe travels, everyone!

There isn't breakfast, but several lovely bakeries nearby have delicious options. We stayed at SmartMotel on the way to Neuschwanstein castle, and it was close to the highway. The rooms were clean, if a bit small, and check-in and check-out were quick and self-service. Parking is available on site.

The place is clean and up to date, and breakfast is included in the price. It was a good, solid breakfast. There is plenty of parking, including free underground parking. If you're arriving late, call ahead so a staff member can be there to hand over the key. That worked well.
