The place has a friendly, reliable contact person, and it works well as a base for trips to Kassel, Schlitz, Eisenach, Point Alpha, or the Eder Dam. You can swim at the lake, whose small beach is about a two-minute walk away, or pay for pedal boating or wakeboarding. There isn't much else to do at the complex, which has seen better days. Inside, the house is nicely furnished and feels homely. The kitchen is small but does the job, with a microwave-sized oven that fits a small casserole or breakfast rolls. The sauna is small too, but pleasant. Parking is right outside, and the location is good. The house is quite noisy, which can be a minor drawback with children. Heating is electric, and both it and water are billed separately, so the costs can add up quickly. If you're after a cozy, affordable stay, bring wood for the fireplace.

The area is well suited to hiking and to motorcycle or bike rides. In warm weather, the water-ski and wakeboard facility is a nice way to spend time, though the Seepark generally doesn't offer many activities. The three tennis courts and football pitch near the house have also seen better days. We stayed over a lovely late-summer weekend, four adults and three children. The house was clean and nicely furnished, with enough room across its three bedrooms. We were lucky to sit outside in front of the house in the evening and use the grill. After checking with the owner, a late Sunday checkout was no problem.
