Hotel Gaststätte Rainhof Scheune

I’ll be back tomorrow for the market. I went to Rainhof Scheune for Martinmarkt day, but had misread which day it opened. So I settled in for coffee and something to eat, and was surprised by the amazing view from the terrace. It made for a very relaxing coffee while I waited for the kitchen to open. I couldn’t choose between the game stew and deer leg, but the waitress was lovely and helpful, offering to serve both in smaller portions. They both tasted great, and the meat was hunted in the schwarzwald. Everything was regional. I can recommend this place.

We loved the atmosphere at Rainhof Scheune and came for coffee and dessert. It’s such a beautiful place with lots of potential. But the service was disappointing: the servers seemed inexperienced and struggled during the busy period, and our coffee arrived cold. The setting is wonderful, and with better training and organization, the experience could match it.

The breakfasts were a highlight, with excellent quality regional products, freshly baked bread, and a huge choice of fresh fruit and vegetables. The view from the breakfast terrace is breathtaking and a lovely way to start the day. The restaurant even has gluten-free penne with ratatouille. Staff were professional and very polite, and when we asked for a few extras, including gluten-free breakfast bread for my wife, they handled it with great courtesy. The hotel is comfortable, with spacious rooms and a tastefully decorated bathroom, and it’s well located away from the town’s hustle and bustle. There’s free parking next to the building. We enjoyed it enough to extend our stay. We’ll gladly return on a future holiday and recommend it to friends.

The food was excellent, the service was great, and the rooms were quiet and charming. Our stay was perfect. I only wish we could have stayed longer!
