Falkenstein Grand, an Autograph Collection Hotel

What should have been a birthday celebration at the Falkenstein Grand ended up being a very disappointing stay. We checked in and thought there might be a booking mix-up, so we showed our reservation at reception and politely asked for clarification. A staff member raised his voice and kept saying, “Don’t argue with me, don’t argue with me, I will level up your stay but don’t argue with me.” We hadn't been rude or argumentative, and the exchange felt uncomfortable and unnecessary. We left feeling unwelcome. For a hotel in this category, I expected respectful, professional treatment. I hope management takes this seriously so other guests aren't treated this way.

It's a peaceful, scenic spot to get away from the hustle, and we found it a great place to relax. The historic hotel has its own charm and overlooks the city. We liked the outdoor dining areas, the pool, and the underground passage connecting parts of the property. The rooms are very spacious, with huge closets, but the beds felt worn and saggy and could use an update.

The staff were friendly, but the room's WiFi didn't work, which is a real deal breaker nowadays. I had a suite with a kitchen, yet it had no plates, cutlery or pans, so I couldn't see the point of having a kitchen. The rooms and general feel of the hotel are dated, probably like it was in the 90s.

The park, terrace and pool are wonderful, with stunning views of Frankfurt in the distance. Breakfast and dinner were great, and the spacious gym is well equipped. I love the “secret” tunnel system linking the buildings. Some rooms are a little dated and may not suit everyone's taste, but I liked their charm. I've stayed in three different rooms and am already looking forward to coming back. One of my favorite hotels in Germany!
