Pension Lachmann

Dinner was freshly prepared, tasty, and well seasoned, while breakfast was adequate. The rooms were clean and the hosts friendly and helpful. They also provided a public transport ticket. It's a very quiet spot near some great places to visit, and I'd recommend it to anyone who likes a peaceful location. One small improvement: door transponders would help, since the locking and unlocking sounds carried quite clearly.

We were a group of nine and stayed three nights at Pension Lachmann. The old building has been turned into a cozy guesthouse, and the price felt excellent for what you get. Our rooms were clean, charmingly furnished, and each had its own bathroom. The reception staff explained the guesthouse's features, and its website has helpful information for planning a stay. There's parking in front, plus a peaceful garden with seating, a fire pit, and a small playground. There's also a covered smoking lounge. Downstairs, the comfortable dining room has a good range of drinks, attentive service, a tasty breakfast, and freshly made à la carte dinners. We disagree with the complaint that the shower is too small. It's a standard size. In the morning, the smell of fresh coffee and fried eggs drifts through the hallway because everything is prepared fresh, and that doesn't warrant a negative review. We weren't charged extra for eggs, despite what a previous review said. It's a great base for hikers heading to Pfaffenstein and/or Königsstein. We highly recommend the guesthouse and the warm, caring Lachmann family. Keep up the good work!

The rooms were clean, nicely furnished, and okay, but we left after just one night. The bed squeaked whenever we turned over and woke us up. Children's stomping and loud conversations continued late into the night. There was a foul smell in the hallway, like kitchen odors mixed with a wet dog and the basement, and it had seeped into our room too. Friendly hosts couldn't make up for the rest falling short.

Breakfast was tasty and the staff were friendly. Our room was clean, but the hallway had a really strong smell of stale smoke and food.
