The cellar has a little selection of wine, Vulkan beer, and honey from the property, and the hostess makes lovely bee-based cosmetics herself. It’s a beautiful loft in such a peaceful spot, with everything thoughtfully in place. Coffee capsules are there for the machine, and check-in is simple with the key box. We’d happily book it again and definitely recommend it.

The house is in a quiet spot, which made it easy to enjoy hikes on the “dream trails” and explore the surrounding area. We spent a week at Basalt Loft in Kottenheim, and it’s been our favorite vacation home in the Eifel so far. We loved all the rooms, especially the “living room window” and the huge shower. The renovation and furnishings feel carefully done, mixing modern touches with a timeless style. The bee products and wines in the house were a great extra, and absolutely superb.

The place has 30 Mbps internet, so even HD glimpses of that pale, skinny boy’s face are possible. And the thought that William Cohn lounged naked in the sheets deserves an extra point. I first heard about Basalt Loft Kottenheim in an ad on ZDFneo, which set off such joyful anticipation that my whole body was trembling. After several hours on the road, arriving exceeded my expectations all over again. There’s a spacious living area and a stainless steel kitchen with an induction cooktop and built-in grill. One downside for anyone who likes a little burn: the clever tech makes it impossible to burn your fingers, so bring a camping stove. Whether you’re a softie or a seasoned traveler, you can relax here. Highly recommended!
