Butzenhuuske

The place was spotless, the kitchen fully equipped, and the bathroom and shower very good. Booking and on-site communication were excellent too. The exterior is attractive and very well kept. There’s parking, but only for one car. The location is great if you have a car, otherwise you’re out of luck. As for the house itself, it’s a tiny gingerbread cottage that’s only habitable on the ground floor, really suited to four dwarfs. Four adults? No. Two adults and small children, sort of. Three adults are meant to share the small sofa, good luck with the friction heat. There are two chairs at the living room table. Anyone else has to sit in the narrow, windowless kitchen, a dead-end room, on bar stools at a board fixed to the wall, staring at the white wall. The bedroom is cute, but there’s practically no storage, just two door hooks and a small cabinet in the hall. You can only air out the bedrooms through awkwardly accessible skylights, and mosquitoes and wasps can fly in freely 😉 The pigeons, feels like 100 wild ones, are louder than the best alarm clock. Still manageable. Wi-Fi and TV, certain channels, get unreliable during atmospheric disturbances. So now we know what a “Butzenhuuske” (small, cramped cottage) is. Lesson learned. Would we return? No. Would we book another house through UpStay? Yes.
