The pastries were absolutely good, and I recommend the kirschenstrudel. The service was nice and friendly too. It’s a lovely hotel close to the high way.

Everything was clean and tidy, and the rooms were really good for the price. The location is convenient, around a 10-minute walk from everything important. Especially in summer, the lake and its little beach must be lovely and popular. The stairs to the upper floor are quite narrow and steep, so they feel a bit dangerous. Be careful, or check whether a downstairs room is available. The restaurant downstairs was a letdown, with limited choice and prices that felt high for the quality. Otherwise, all the staff were very friendly and helpful. You can pay in cash or by card.

The room was small, but clean and practical, so it works for a short stay without big expectations. Dinner was a pleasant surprise, tasty and honestly prepared, without any frills. The service was polite and unobtrusive, and the clean, spacious parking area was easy to use, which was a real plus. A solid place with good and bad points. If you don’t expect perfection, it’s a straightforward, honest place to stay, with room to improve.

I spent a night at Hotel Birkensee recently. It’s quiet and away from the city center, while the exhibition center and arena are only a few minutes away. The rooms are clean and functional, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast could be better. I also found feather pillows and dark bedding unacceptable in a hotel, and campground guests talked loudly late into the night. Okay for one night.

I’m posting on behalf of a friend who doesn’t have a Google account and was very disappointed today. We’d booked a non-refundable, two-night room for €238, without breakfast. When we unexpectedly got tickets for a weekend event, we called to ask if we could book another room or an extra bed so we could surprise our niece. The hotel said it was fully booked. Since this small "hotel/guesthouse" is out in the countryside beside a campground, my husband agreed to give up his space for our niece and sleep in our converted Amarok for the two nights. He used the showers and toilets at the trade fair in our exhibitor area. We’re there from early morning until late at night, so that was fine for him. Breakfast wasn’t included, so we separately booked and paid on site in advance for two groups of three people at €15 each. Everything was fine until the second day, when the supposed manager came over and asked if my husband had slept in the hotel parking space. He demanded €44 for it, even though there was no electricity or water and my husband hadn’t used the restrooms, green spaces, or anything else. The space, which was actually free for hotel guests, was a gravel lot with a construction site. The manager was a complete disaster. He could easily have discussed the issue before we left, but instead he shouted across reception and slammed the door. It’s so pathetic. If my husband had parked our car in front of the space, that apparently wouldn’t have been a problem, but it was his property.
