Taste Smart Hotel Lampertheim

The rooms are very nice and new, but housekeeping was a big disappointment. For three days I had no shampoo, even after asking at reception. Parking is limited too, and I ended up having to park outside the hotel. Breakfast starts at 7:00, which didn't suit me, though the buffet staff kindly brought it to my room. When I ate there today, the selection was very poor: only boiled eggs in their shells, sausages that didn't taste like much, and quite good coffee.

Our room was newly decorated, very nice, and had a huge shower and a comfortable bed. It was quiet despite being on the edge of town, so we slept well. Breakfast was included and good. The public areas, though, were shabby, and the corridor carpet was stained and dirty. The hotel was in the middle of being refurbished, which made for a strange stay. The service wasn't especially friendly, though that may have been because we didn't speak much German and they didn't speak much English.

A convenient stop on a road trip, with comfortable rooms and free secure underground parking. The hotel was being renovated while we were there, but it didn't cause a problem. They warned us in advance, and without that notice we probably wouldn't have known. There was only a very faint smell of fresh paint. Some parts feel a bit old-fashioned and dated, probably because of the renovation work, and those features may not be around much longer.

We stayed for one night. Breakfast was excellent, parking was free, and the man at reception was nice. The rooms were a bit old and dark, but fine for a 3-star place.
