Berghotel Wolfshagen

The town itself isn't especially interesting, and you have to drive to reach the single-track trails. It's not the best base for mountain biking in the Harz. There was nowhere secure to store our bikes, so we had to leave them outside.

Breakfast was fantastic, and the staff were very friendly. It's a cozy hotel with clean rooms, close to Goslar.

Even with lots of guests over the weekend, it stayed fairly quiet late into the evening and at night. Dinner from the restaurant was delicious and nicely presented. We ordered two different vegetarian dishes through room service. Everyone we met, from housekeeping and service staff to the owner, was incredibly friendly, attentive, and accommodating. They even remembered to ask if we'd like coffee with breakfast again. I'd highly recommend this hotel.

I stayed in Room 15 in August 2018. The breakfast buffet had plenty of choice, and the breakfast hours weren't too strict. Half-board was very good too, with soup, a main course, and dessert. My dog was looked after well and could come into both the breakfast room and restaurant. The staff made me feel welcome and took good care of me without being pushy. There was ample free parking, and Wi-Fi worked steadily in my room and the restaurant at a speed that suited me. The hotel and grounds seemed clean; I could tell the room had been vacuumed properly from the carpet pile, and it was tidied every day. There was also a mattress protector. The decor is simple and may be a bit out of fashion, but it didn't bother me. The room was a reasonable size for a short stay for two. The mattress was too soft for my preference. The balcony is a long shared exit without separation between rooms, so my curious dog kept poking his nose into any room left open. The LCD TV is tiny and outdated. Rooms facing the parking lot sit above the restaurant and kitchen.
