Everything else was fine, though the waiter could have been a bit quicker.

The family room was very spacious, and there’s a horse riding center next door.

There’s plenty of lovely countryside for walks and hikes around the hotel, and dogs are made very welcome with beds, bowls, and snacks. My dogs found the open marble stairs a little scary and slippery, especially since our apartment was on the second floor. I also wished there had been a refrigerator; going without one for a few days made it difficult to keep a few things. The restaurant is simple but adequate, and the food was tasty.

Wolfshagen and the Harz Mountains are breathtaking, with deep, snow-covered forests and trails around Hahnenklee and Bocksberg. It’s a wonderful region for hiking, enjoying nature, and recharging, even over a weekend. Our huge apartment had an amazing nature view, and there was a dog playground just outside the door. The living room was especially cozy, with a fireplace, fresh tulips, games, cushions for the dogs, and treats for their humans. I also loved the main building’s architecture and the beautiful pool, which was big enough to swim laps in. The hosts and staff were incredibly dedicated and welcoming. We’ve never seen such a fantastic concept elsewhere: people and their furry companions are at the center, with regional products like juices, soaps, dog food and treats, wines, and more, all with a clear sustainable and charitable character. I particularly appreciated that. The menus were delicious, and everything from the cakes to the pasta was homemade. We’ll be back.
