The staff, especially at reception and in the restaurant, were friendly and helpful with a great service mindset. The breakfast is tasty and high quality, although the buffet selection is small. They brought extra choices, especially drinks and juice, when asked, and served excellent coffee at the table. The restaurant was clean and the food fresh. The price felt like a real bargain for the hygiene, service, and breakfast. I can absolutely recommend it. The rooms were spotless, including floors and surfaces, and the bathroom was cleaned every day. I checked with a UV light and sticky strips. Beds weren't made often, and glasses and instant coffee were replenished only on request. Towels were changed if left on the floor; otherwise they stayed. The mini fridge was clean and easy to use. The water pressure was great, though hot water might run low late in the morning. Room lighting was poor, so double-check shaving or makeup; a flashlight helped me. The windows are huge and can bring in lots of light depending on the room's direction. The view is boring, but the surroundings are maintained well, and the curtains and roller shutters are quiet and easy to handle. The rooms were very quiet. Mattresses are new, though the hotel could use renovation, and there was a slight moldy smell in the hallway by reception. Wifi was unstable, with poor latency and connection, but 5G reception in the rooms was excellent. The key system is old-fashioned but works: it's a big, heavy key holder, and unlocking the room's electricity was awkward. Any plastic card works, so I left the room card on the keychain and used another card. The location is okay, but nearby shops close early. Heidelberg is 15 minutes away by car for longer opening hours. I couldn't try the TV, laundry service, dinner options, or the public indoor pool in the same building.
