Fürstenhof, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Leipzig

The one thing that made me wince was the bar price. I asked for a gin and tonic and the bartender quoted 15 euros. Holy smokes. Aside from that, I have only good things to say, especially if you don't drink. I stayed for a week and was impressed by the character of the building, the facilities, the outstanding staff, and the delicious breakfast choices. The cleaners even picked up on personal preferences. On my first day I left classical music playing on the TV when I went out, and every evening for the rest of the week I came back to find that station on again.

The inner courtyard is wonderful, and the staff are very nice. They came by during the day to clean or put towels on the bed, which is thoughtful, but we had said we didn't need cleaning that day and didn't like the visits. The room lighting is very dim, and although the wifi is there, it doesn't work. Breakfast costs €25 and parking €31, unbelievably more than anywhere else.

The rooms were super clean, and the staff were very nice. The hotel itself is lovely, with a nice bar and restaurant. The spa looked okay, but it wasn't open when I went before 9am. One thing gave me a laugh: I opened a drawer and found it empty, with a message telling guests that hairdryers in this hotel category are kept in the wardrobe. Thanks, I guess?

Our stay was quiet thanks to the very nice inner courtyard, and the generously sized rooms were great. It's a lovely hotel in a historical building, with an excellent spa and a decent restaurant where the service was attentive and prices reasonable. Valet parking worked well too. Can recommend!
