McDreams Hotel Leipzig-City

This was my second stay here, and it’s been really good again. The room was clean and nice, with basics like a hair dryer, shower gel and towels. If you need other toiletries, there’s a Rossmann nearby. Getting there is easy, the location is strategic, and the whole stay was hassle-free.

The price felt very fair, and I’d recommend the place for a night or two. There are lots of good places to eat nearby, and the center is about 10-15 minutes away by tram. The room was clean, well looked after, and as described. Mine was cold because the closed window still let in a lot of air. It also let in plenty of noise from the main road, though that was to be expected. There’s no staff around, so it’s worth ordering an extra blanket or anything else you might need from their list. If you’d rather not use the phone key, you can get a physical card when you arrive.

The electronic check-in went fine for me, though it’s best to do it ahead of time and have your code ready. The location is good and the price is low. My room was a little worn but clean and acceptable. The bathroom smell was unbearable, like a mix of a chemical toilet and a sewer. I had to hold my nose to go in. I don’t know what caused it, perhaps something with the pipes, and with no staff there was nobody to ask whether it was normal or have it checked. I later saw a few other reviews saying their rooms had the same smell. Unfortunately, it made the stay truly disgusting.

The rooms are clean and nice, and the hotel is in a central part of the city. Self check-in was a bit of a hassle. A few other guests and I found that the physical keycards it gave us didn’t work, so we had to use the digital keys sent by email.
