Hotel Sternen

The staff were friendly, but there were several problems. One bed was broken and held together with tape. The heating stopped working, there was no hot water for showers the next morning, and the Wi-Fi never worked.

We were relieved we didn’t have to check in. We’d booked a double room and received confirmation by email, but when we arrived the doors were locked. It seems the owner was on vacation. The surroundings looked eerily neglected. I’d say stay away from this hotel.

The area is beautiful for relaxing, and you can easily drive to Feldberg mountain. Sadly, the stay was a mess. The owner was unfriendly, ignored what we’d agreed, and acted as she pleased. Other guests had already ended their holidays days earlier. I could just as well have slept in my car. Our two Pomeranians had been arranged in advance. I told the owner we didn’t want room service during our two-night stay because the dogs would be in the room while we went snowboarding. She went into the room because the dogs were barking, and they ran out. If you don’t have dogs, imagine strangers approaching your toddler after you’d agreed they wouldn’t. The rooms were disgusting, with carpet stains, a musty smell, and a very uncomfortable mattress. We had to beg for hot water. The breakfast was cheap but cost over €11 per person. I could have bought the yogurt in a cup and bread roll at the nearby supermarket. The owner also said keys should be handed back as soon as you leave the hotel, and called that standard practice. What a joke. Please spend a little more and book somewhere else. It’s a shame, given how lovely and relaxing the area is.
