Hotel Kolpinghaus Lingen

The location is good, though I think there are better options nearby. It's an old hotel, and room 1 needs some attention: the bed creaks and the mattress is soft, the bedside lamp is missing parts and doesn't work, and the bath towels are frayed and should probably be replaced. At least there's coffee and tea in the room. On Sunday morning the church bells next door start at 8:00 AM and chime for fifteen minutes, so no alarm is needed. The hotel only opens at 4:00 PM, which means that if you arrive early and want to go into Lingen, you have to pay for parking. The free parking included with the reservation isn't available until 4:00 PM. Dinner was fine. The fries were tasty, and the schnitzel was a little burnt on the outside but otherwise okay. The ventilation was worse, though. After a while the smell got nauseating, and it stayed on our clothes; we could still smell it walking to breakfast the next morning. We asked for breakfast at 9:00 AM, but they had run out of rolls. They offered bread instead, and when we said yes, they made rolls and scrambled eggs. Breakfast was simple but okay. While we were eating, they asked whether they could clean our room already, which felt odd while we were still there and checkout wasn't until 11:00 AM. They seemed in a hurry to close, and it didn't feel very welcoming. Also, the website advertises a bowling alley, and there is one, but it's not in use. You'll have to find something else to do.

We'd be happy to come back. The rooms are large and clean, and the staff are very friendly. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, generous, and had plenty of variety. Highly recommended for families.

I've been staying here regularly for three months and am completely satisfied. They give you a warm welcome, and late arrivals outside opening hours can be arranged individually. The restaurant is highly recommendable at any time of day, from breakfast through dinner. The rooms have seen better days, though renovations are about to happen and the plans are already posted. The location is truly central, with the train station, city center, and our boss's ground staff only a few steps away.
