Eifelferienhaus Thome

Our grandson had a lovely week with us at the Thome holiday home in the beautiful Eifel. The owners know the area well and gave us helpful ideas for outings, and we really enjoyed exploring it. They welcomed us warmly, showed us around, and had a sweet little treat waiting on the table. Many thanks to the Thome family!

You get the whole house, all three floors, to yourselves. The owners live next door if anything comes up, though we barely saw them. Cookies, cake, bottled water and wine were a nice welcome. It's a warm, comfortable place to explore the area from, but you'll need a car since there's not much within walking distance beyond restaurants and nature.

We stayed three nights with our two children and were struck by how much room there was. The upstairs bathroom is spacious, though the ground-floor toilet is quite small. The place felt homely and had plenty for the whole family: toys, a PlayStation and games, books, DVDs and excursion brochures. The kitchen was packed with dishes and appliances, plus basics like coffee filters, dishwasher tablets, salt, pepper and flour. Our beds were made up, with a little welcome gift on each bedside table. The house was spotless, and despite being a smoking house, I hardly noticed any smoke as a non-smoker. It was clear the owners care about guests' comfort. We had no hot water on the first morning because the heating was off, and the owner seemed very embarrassed. Half an hour later the water was boiling hot, and it stayed that way for the rest of our visit. We and the kids felt comfortable and would choose it again when we're back in the Eifel. The attention to detail really stood out. We were warmly greeted when we arrived, and the apartment was opened up and explained to us straight away.

It was a very peaceful spot, with spacious, clean rooms. The hosts were super friendly and gave us useful tips for getting around the area.
