A-ROSA Sylt

We left earlier than planned and found somewhere else to stay, which says a lot about how disappointing the visit was. The activities on offer were limited, and the spa treatments we had come for were impossible to book. On our first day, we were told there were no appointments for the whole week. Many spa staff had resigned or were off sick, and the alternative spa they suggested was booked up too. The hotel waiting list was so long that we couldn't even join it, and nobody offered a clear solution. When we raised the issue, we were told we should have booked treatments in advance. We didn't think it was reasonable to expect guests to reserve spa services before they'd even secured a hotel room. We chose A-ROSA Sylt specifically for its spa and range of treatments, so we were deeply disappointed by the lack of availability. We hope management addresses the staffing and booking problems so other guests don't have the same experience.

The spa was lovely, and the kids were happy with the mini club and the children's area by the buffet restaurant. The bike rental guy was really nice too, with good bikes at a reasonable price. Dinner and bar staff were very friendly, and breakfast coffee was great. For what I paid, I expected more from a hotel in this category. Dinner options didn't impress me, and the food was cold because the plates hadn't been warmed. Some breakfast staff couldn't speak even basic German. There was no coffee machine in the room, no kids' pool, and no ladies' sauna. The gym felt small to me, as did the suite TV. The bar's cocktail list stuck to the basics, and you had to ask directly to get nuts with your drinks. I also left my jacket behind. They said they'd call if they found it, but never did.

The spa was a great place to spend time on a windy, rainy day, with several saunas and big pools. We also really enjoyed the breakfast and dinner buffet, which had plenty of hot and cold choices. They ask you to reserve a table, which makes sense given the seating capacity. It's a laid-back hotel in the north of Sylt. We drove an electric car and could charge it right away in the parking garage. Our room was a decent size, and our dog had a comfy bed, a bowl, and treats waiting. Thanks 🙏🏾

The breakfast buffet was the bright spot. There was lots to choose from, including fresh juices and microgreens. The rest of our stay was a letdown, especially after a great visit to Budersand Hotel. Check-in felt underwhelming, and paying extra for parking seemed a bit cheap when there was so much space available. The pool was freezing, and the spa wasn't clean. There were Band-Aids piled in a sauna corner, and the towel hampers were overflowing. The room hallways were scuffed, with peeling paint and wallpaper. I'm honestly surprised this place has a five-star rating. To me, it felt more like a Marriot or Hilton.
