B&B HOTEL Kassel-Lohfelden

The beds are short: at 175 cm, half my feet were hanging off the mattress. The hotel itself is very basic but has what you need. Two lamps didn’t work, and the AC was extremely weak. When we used the shower, the water suddenly got burning hot. We reported all of it, but barely got an apology, and I had to press the woman at checkout to give me one. She explained they were new to the property and planned to renovate, but nobody had told us that beforehand. I also said the sudden hot water needed to be reported right away, since children stay there too. There’s potential here, but guests should be told what still needs renovation, and the staff need customer service training.

The room was tiny for what they charged, and it wasn’t very clean. The TV in the photo was covered in dust, and the A/C didn’t work. I arrived at 14:00, although check-in starts at 15:00, and they wanted 15€ to let me in early. I tried calling reception, but there was no number to reach them, and nobody answered my emails.

The staff were friendly, and the stay was very good.

It’s a decent option for the price in an area where hotels generally seemed expensive. The location is handy for a short stop on a road trip, close to the highway. You can check in at any time using the screen, even when reception is unattended. There are plenty of parking spaces, but parking isn’t free: you need to pay reception for a pass. If you’ll arrive when nobody is there, contact the hotel beforehand. The receptionist was very nice and spoke English well. They also have a phone number and email for getting in touch. The main hassle was payment through Booking.com. The hotel couldn’t receive that payment, so I was asked to pay again there. Reception told me to check with Booking.com whether the original payment had gone through, and it had. Booking.com said I should contact the hotel myself. Since I stayed just one night, I emailed after leaving; the hotel replied that day and said they’d refunded it. I haven’t received the money yet, though I assume it’ll come soon. I paid 64EUR through Booking.com, while the hotel charged 61EUR including parking, which I think was 10EUR, so paying at the hotel seems to have been cheaper. Booking through the hotel’s own website showed the same price as Booking.com, so the difference wasn’t because I used Booking.com. The beds were hard and the pillows weren’t great. If possible, I’d pay at the hotel.
