Hotel & Restaurant Goldener Pflug

We stayed for a week during the exhibition, and everything was perfect. The rooms were very clean, but the breakfast stood out most: there was so much to choose from, and it was all delicious. If I’m in the area again, I’ll absolutely stay here.

Ludwigsburg is a small, calm town with lovely countryside nearby, great for walking or jogging, and I’m sure I’ll come back. I found this fantastic place near Stuttgart and decided to give it a try. The whole hotel seems newly renovated, with fresh rooms and bathrooms. My room had air conditioning, a minibar with a fridge, and a large desk, everything I needed as a business traveler who works in the room too. Parking in the garage below was very good value at 5 Eur. There’s also a nice typical German restaurant in the hotel. I liked it enough to book another night straight away while staying in the area.

The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the hotel is in a quiet residential area with good access to the Porsche Museum. The rooms are immaculately clean, and the food is very good, though the half-board choices are limited. Breakfast was good. My room had no frills at all, and the bare linoleum floor, without even a rug, made it feel more like a hostel than a hotel. The bathroom was very small too.

If you just need simple, clean accommodation, this place will do. For a special vacation or romantic getaway, I’d keep looking. Nothing actually went wrong during my visit, but the hotel felt cold and depressing despite being updated and in good condition. I wouldn’t call it luxury: the rooms are plain, and the mattresses and linens are very thin. Breakfast disappointed me too, with no hot food, which seemed odd for a hotel with two restaurants. The gym is in a strange windowless basement room. Garage parking was convenient, though the spaces are very, very small, so leave the big car at home.
