CVJM Hotel am Dom

The hotel is well placed for Lübeck’s historic sights, and my friends’ room, number 40, was spacious and modern, with a balcony and lovely natural light. My room, though, was a very cramped little box, even though it was clean. Rooms 34, 25, 26, and 27 would feel claustrophobic on a wet, windy day. The soap was empty, and the internet was very slow. On a rainy day I’d have liked to play a film from USB on the TV, but the port didn’t support it. I’m allergic to feathers, so I asked reception for a feather-free pillow. The woman assured me twice that none of the hotel pillows had feathers and said they’d all been changed two years ago. After another sleepless night, I checked the label: 90% Federn/10%Daunen. That wasn’t true, and I wasn’t impressed.

It felt unsafe, so I left after just half an hour. To me, it seemed more like a hostel in a dark, out-of-the-way area, and I didn’t like it.

The breakfast was amazing, and the price was fair.

We were four people, each staying in an identical single room for two nights. The mattresses were good box springs, but at 80 cm wide they felt too narrow to me. The furnishings were very basic, and each room had a small bathroom with a shower. In the photos, you can see a view of the courtyard and greenery.
