Breakfast was okay, though the buffet gets very backed up when lots of guests show up. Another station and an extra bread knife would help with the wait. It’s also annoying to have to pass through a smoky area by the main entrance whenever you come or go. We couldn’t get Chromecast to work, and apparently there’s a limit on how many guests can use it. The staff couldn’t get it working either. The location is great for exploring Lübeck, the staff are friendly and helpful, and check-in and checkout were easy.

A spacious, clean room, with a kettle, tea selection and instant coffee provided. The receptionists were great, and it’s very close to the trains at Hbf and the buses at Zob.

I accidentally booked the wrong room through Agoda and canceled, but the terms said there was no free cancellation or refund. I called the hotel right away to see if they could help, and they said Agoda handled payments. Agoda told me they could only submit a refund request, which was denied. I ended up with no money back and no room. They kept my payment for a room I’d only had booked for about an hour before noticing the mistake. I don’t think that would have affected their business, but they offered no service, solution or alternative.

We arrived before check-in, but the hotel kindly stored our things until we could get into the room at 3 PM. Christy helped us check in and spoke perfect English, as did the other desk attendant we met later. The location is handy for the regional train station and local bus hub, and the tourist area of old Lubeck is a four-minute walk away. Our room for two was a little small by US standards, but the bed was perfectly comfortable and the shower was amazing. I recommend staying here, and we’ll come back if we return to the city.
